I started off listening to one of my favorite preachers, Paul Washer, a missionary for Heart Cry. I have listened to many sermons from him, and God speaks to me so strongly through him. The first sermon I listened to was about the Promises of God. The second on the power of prayer.

The Old and New Testament are filled with beautiful and powerful promises. In the sermon, Washer said that most Christians are comfortable with slavery! (Slavery to sin, circumstances, etc.) Ironic, right? We say to ourselves so often "Well, I'll never overcome this. I've tried. It's useless to keep fighting for it." Then that particular problem/sin becomes a part of your life, and we let the Promises of God just stay on the page, and not dwelling in our hearts through faith. So, we have the answers in the Word, but we don't do anything about it. Humans are funny. I don't know where we'd be without God and His Word. Today I'm beginning a personal journey through the Promises of God. I'm going to meditate on them, and pray about them. I don't want to live under the promises. I want to fully claim them and live in them. The first video is the sermon I watched on the Promises of God.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlUezCAWUbU

The sermon on prayer was convicting for me as well. Washer starts off by saying "How much did you pray this morning?" All throughout it he was also saying that we have been so focused on knowledge, not power. It reminds me where Paul in 1 Corinthians says that the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. I feel so encouraged by this to overcome great things in prayer. Jesus, fully God and man, drew himself away often to pray. And HE is God! How much more should I, a human being pray? The enemy doesn't want us to pray, because great things happen through prayer and persevering in it. "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Here is a clip of the sermon, the actual one was about an hour long. Enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acdW1f05L4Y
